An Aerospace Software Solution
Customized workflow application
Sigma Resources partnered with an auditor of Quality Management Systems to build a software solution to meet the needs of collecting, analyzing and disseminating data and information collected during the audit of their customer’s Quality Management System(QMS). The auditor is a premier registrar for quality, aerospace, environmental and safety registrations accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). They provide third party certifications to standards from premier standards development organizations like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and SAE International.
Sigma engaged in requirements elicitation and UX design process with the customer and operational teams, followed by a year long phased build and deliver approach to deliver the system functionality that helped PRI mitigate the risk of obsolescence in their current infrastructure. Sigma is engaged in extending system functionality and providing ongoing support.
Sigma engaged in a three month requirement definition and UX design process with the business and operational teams. This allowed the Sigma team to scope the project and build a business case for an investment from the client.
Sigma successfully assisted the client with their go-live date and within the planned budget.
Sigma followed the Agile methodology, Scrum framework, and a UX design approach for this custom-development project. As part of this approach, Sigma served as the Chief Product Owner (CPO) and used the business team from the client for their collective subject matter expertise. A Scrum Master from the Sigma team provided the oversight and governance of the project. Sigma worked with the client in a cross-functional team, with Sigma filling the Product Owner, Scrum Master, architecture, user interface (UI) design, developer, DevOps, and QA testing roles. As part of the Agile methodology, Sigma’s CPO defined releases, created Epics and Stories, and groomed the backlog. Sigma implemented functionality in Sprints, and led the Sprint planning, daily stand-up, and retrospective meetings.
The technologies used on the project were Java/J2EE with the Spring framework as the development platform, Oracle as the transactional database, and Tomcat as the application server. The Agile methodology was managed using VersionOne, and integrated testing leveraged the Selenium testing suite. Code quality metrics were measured and tracked using SonarQube.
By using the new workflow system, the client has been able to realize operational efficiencies, as well as follow a more consistent data collection, sales, and delivery experience to their customers.
